Alexander Barretta

Alex has been an integral part of Common Ground Architecture since its foundation, having previously worked within the Design & Feasibility Team at Croydon Council.

Alex has been responsible for the design and delivery of several projects for Brick By Brick throughout Croydon, ranging from prominent high-street locations to suburban infill projects. He also has extensive experience in site identification and feasibility studies, and is currently leading the design on a new residential development in West Croydon.

He studied Architecture at the University of Nottingham, University of Westminster and the Royal College of Art. Alex previously worked with Mobile Studio Architects, where he was responsible for running a range of multidisciplinary projects in the UK and internationally. He is also a visiting architectural critic at the University of Nottingham and a FLUID Diversity Mentor.

He believes in a playful approach to architecture that teases out an enjoyment of the everyday.
